The Cross Community Coalition Family Resource Center is a non-profit community center providing social services to the Swansea/Elyria/Globeville Communities in North Denver. Adjacent to the industrial areas northeast of downtown Denver, divided by the elevated portion of I-70, and labeled the largest superfund site in the City of Denver, the neighborhood has faced imminent decline since its early development prior to WWII. By the 1980's, the community had a majority of poor, working families, families that the Cross Caommunity Family Resource Center was formed to assist these families.
The spirit of the facility is to welcome people from the community and to encourage interaction. The new $1.5 million center includes a large community multi-purpose meeting space, four classrooms, administrative offices, conference rooms and open offices for programs such as job training and placement, family and youth services, and environmental programs. The facility is designed to take advantage of natural day-lighting to enhance the work place for the user and to save on energy costs.
